A local church is helping dozens of families affected by Sunday's massive fires in Albany.

The Red Cross says 77 people were displaced from their Sheridan Avenue and Quail Street homes after flames tore through 12 residential buildings early Sunday morning.

Pastor Charlie Muller says the community has raised $8,000 worth of Wal-Mart gift cards that will be handed out to victims. A Quail St. fire relief fundraiser on GoFundMe has raised an additional $8,400.

Spectrum News talked to Samuel Coleman, a Sheridan Avenue fire victim and single father who says he lost everything.

“It’s an experience I’ve never had before," said Coleman. "To lose everything, and I mean I literally lost everything of mine -- everything of my daughter, her stuffed animals, toys, just that day got a toy box for her [and] was just about to build it, put everything inside of it -- but that went out the window."

One person suffered non-life threatening injuries in Sunday's fires. Her daughter tells Spectrum News she is doing better.
