RAVENA, N.Y. -- Students at Ravena Coeymans Selkirk are headed back to school and educators are doing something different to make sure children are safe.

The Class of 2022 was part of a freshman orientation that welcomed them to high school, but also made them aware of the resources that's available to them.

"Helping them overcome adversity, and part of that is teaching them to be successful. Because the more successful they are, the more safe our schools are going to be,” said Lisa Patierne, the principal.

This is the first time RCS has tried this with their freshman class. They're going to expand it to other grades, next year.
