It's been 10 days since a bolt of lightning kindled fire at the Saratoga Springs City Hall, and it remains closed to the public.

That strike led to extensive weather damage inside the heart of city headquarters. Over the last week, crews have been working on drying up the water and demolition.

Officials offered the first look inside of the damage Monday. Mayor Meg Kelly showed the media the extensive water damage to all three floors of the buildings.

Reconstruction is slated to begin soon, and it will include new walls, ceilings, floors and some minor electrical work. There is no official timeline for when reconstruction will be completed.

''Thank God, City Hall didn't burn down. It's repair-able. It's months away from starting business back up again, but I think it was a good test of our emergency plan, we see that there may be some tweaking that may have to happen with it," said Public Works Commissioner Anthony Scirocco.

Officials have not yet offered an estimate for how much repairs will cost, but expect that number to be in the millions.

For now, most of the city's operations are being carried out at the recreation center.
