The future of Troy city public pools was at the center of debate at Tuesday night’s Rensselaer County Legislature meeting.

A resolution that allows the city to seek state funding for the pools passed with a 14 to 5 vote.

However, Minority Chairman Peter Grimm’s amendment to bypass the resolution was struck down after members voiced concerns.

The resolution only goes so far, and says no money can be exchanged until a budget is approved at a later date.

County Legislator Kim Ashe-McPherson says she's frustrated with the city's progress in making these pool repairs.

"I sent a letter July 19 to the mayor asking him what his plans are for these properties. They are sitting there, two years sitting there and they are not doing anything. They are going to grow trees, they are going to be liabilities for the city. ‘What is your plan?’ He didn't respond,” said Ashe-McPherson.

Legislators also voted 14 to 5 to pass a resolution urging Gov. Cuomo to reverse his directive threatening insurance companies and banks that do business with the NRA.
