ALBANY, N.Y. -- Wildwood School had a problem. They started a running club but had no where to run. Thanks for leadership tech valley a solution was on the horizon.

"It just gives them another place to be outside and to run and to stay active," said physical education teacher John Henriksen.

With unbounding enthusiasm Wednesday, students at Wildwood School inaugurated their new field of dreams.

"They are staring out watching the construction being done. They are asking 'when it will be done?' They are all excited about it. Today's the day we can finally make the dream come true," said Henriksen.

It was an act of charity that helped those dreams come true with the opening of a new custom-built circular track.

"This moment, seeing these kids get to experience the track, is worth all the pain we put in. It was a class project, after all," said Katie Poole, a member of Leadership Tech Valley.

The project was selected as this year's Leadership Tech Valley project. It's a group that gets together over a 10-month period to give back and complete a major project.

"Their project was thoughtful, organized and in desperate need of a space to have these activities," said David Cost, a member of Leadership Tech Valley.

"As of now, we only have our gym, and we started a running [club], and it's expanded to 100 kids," said Henriksen.

The track will be used for phys. ed. classes and running club on Fridays.
