Gubernatorial candidates Cynthia Nixon and Marc Molinaro are calling Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's resignation disturbing.

Nixon says it a "national epidemic" saying on Twitter, “we need to get to the bottom of the enormous culture of silence that protects those in power.”

Nixon also wrote the accusers are brave and their descriptions were "sickening."

Republican gubernatorial candidate and Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro appeared Tuesday morning on Keeler in the Morning on 950 WIBX -- calling the allegations disturbing and is happy the attorney general resigned.

Molinaro also highlighted lingering issues throughout Albany, focusing on issues with lawmakers that have ties back to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The Republican candidate says more needs to be done to keep state leaders responsible for their actions - both politically and in their personal lives.

"We've seen this in this state when people in power don't feel that they're accountable and there isn't a strong enough force to provide the right checks and balances, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. And we've seen it in the Attorney General's office and sadly we've seen it in the governor's office. When individuals don't think that someone is holding them accountable, they sometimes can act in horrible ways and we've seen it in all aspects of state government,” said Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.
