People of all ages were at Crossgates Mall Saturday, auditioning for their chance to sing the national anthem at a Tri-City ValleyCats game this season.

Around 70 people were there to show off their singing skills for a crowd and a panel of judges from the team.

The judges will pick five finalists from Saturday's auditions, before letting fans decide the one winner who will sing the anthem at either Opening Day or the Fourth of July game.

It was tough competition on Saturday, for an opportunity that plenty of people, young and old, are after.

"All ages, we have people anywhere from 7, 8 years old, to 70 years old I've remembered in the past,” said Media Production Manager Chris Chenes. “So it's a wide range".

Fans can head to the ValleyCats website to vote for the winner of this year’s competition.
