RENSSELAER, N.Y. — Police say two women and a young boy are dead after a fire on Mann Avenue in Rensselaer Sunday morning.

When crews arrived on scene around 4:40 a.m., they said there was heavy smoke billowing from the home.

Officials have since indentified the victims as 68-year-old Safia Alblakhi, 41-year-old Monzalah Alshami and 8-year-old Aymen Alshami.

Two children did survive the fire. One was flown to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse in critical condition, the other is at Albany Medical Center and expected to be OK.

The home itself was heavily damaged during the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
