As kids headed off to school Tuesday morning, it was "Dads Take Your Child to School Day."

It's an effort across New York state from schools and state officials who are encouraging the importance of family support to ensure student success. In the Capital Region, all five Troy elementary schools took part of the statewide initiative.

The State Office of Children and Family Services is encouraging fathers and father figures to be more involved in their children's academic successes.
