BETHLEHEM, N.Y. – A bus that transports people with disabilities burst into flames Wednesday in Slingerlands.

Fire officials say when they got to the New Visions Community Residential, the bus was fully engulfed in flames.

Fortunately, no one was on board. The bus driver was inside the facility waiting for passengers.

Fire officials say the bus was left on and parked just outside the facility.

“No injuries, no firefighter injuries,” said Chris Fuino, North Bethlehem Fire Department Chief. “It was a little bit of a stubborn fire due to some magnesium that was burning."

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Chief Fuino said he believes it started in the engine.
