With so many people stuck inside, a lot of people have been spending their time on the couch, watching TV. But now, that's being impacted by the coronavirus.

Julia Gargano, a St. Rose senior, should be across the country filming “American Idol.” But that's now on hold. The show has temporarily suspended filming because of COVID-19.

Instead, the Staten Island native is home, finishing her college degree online and trying to make new music.

"I feel like everyone knows somebody who has it or a family that’s been devastated by it, the coronavirus. So I’ve had a lot of inspiration. There’s so many emotions everywhere. I’ve had a good amount of time to reflect and work on my craft," said Gargano.

Gargano says she's gotten a lot of positive messages, and she's been watching episodes of “American Idol” as they air.

"The response has been overwhelming," said Gargano. "My neighborhood has been, both Albany and Staten Island, have been so incredible and have made this such an exciting time, despite the circumstances."

There’s no word yet on when “Idol” will begin filming again, but an announcement is expected soon.
