Gloversville High School chemistry teacher Jennifer Hazzard loves making science accessible.

“People are often overwhelmed or intimidated by science, and I wanted to show people that it doesn’t have to be that way,” said Hazzard.

Since schools have been closed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, she started a YouTube channel called Hazzard at Home, where she shares experiments with her students.

“Doing the YouTube channel has allowed me to stay connected to them,” she said.

Hazzard explains the science behind the experiments. She also lets you know which experiments parents and kids can do together at home using basic household items.

“If there are any safety precautions, I talk about them during the video,” said Hazzard.

She is also sponsoring a virtual science fair with prizes for kids anywhere in the country through Facebook.
