Local nurses continue to push for a better contract with Albany Medical Center.

The New York State Nurses Association hosted a town hall yesterday, nearly two months after the union rejected a contract proposal from Albany Med, saying the health care provider isn't addressing a staffing crisis.

The health care provider previously accused the union of not bringing that contract to a vote because it would have kept the hospital an open shop, meaning nurses wouldn't have to join the union.

"There is a reason that we are still fighting for the best outcome for our nurses and for our community, so that we can care for our patients when they come to what is the top hospital in this region," said registered nurse Sean Lipinski.
