A hospital can be a scary place for children, but one Troy man is on a mission to bring comfort to young patients.

Created by Christopher Fain, The Kindness Cart is brought around Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital to patients and their families every Friday.

Children can pick anything from crayons to candy, and teddy bears to toothbrushes. Fain says it is all about helping the children.

"When you can put a smile on a sick kid's face, it's the best feeling ever. Or just have a family hug you because they needed a toothbrush or a toothpaste and there it is."

Fain says he usually visits between 40 and 50 families. He hopes that number goes down because it means children are getting healthy and going home.
