In Albany County, the number of positive coronavirus cases is up among young children – a trend that County Executive Dan McCoy’s office says it’s monitoring.

McCoy says the number of positive cases among 10- to 19-year-olds is up 12 percent in the last week. That's now outpacing the 20- to 29-year-old age group.

McCoy says in-person classes at local schools could be a factor.

A total of 11 new cases have been reported since yesterday, and about half of them are University at Albany students.

McCoy is encouraging parents to get their children tested. To schedule an appointment, contact the county health department.
