New members-elect are making their way to Albany to start learning their way around, literally and figuratively. The latest additions to the Assembly Republican conference got to cast their first official vote for leader. And as we discussed with that leader, Brian Kolb, the conference has grown thanks to some upset wins over incumbents.

One of those victors is Assemblyman-elect John Salka, who will be representing Madison County and parts of Oneida and Otsego Counties next year. He defeated 28-year incumbent Bill Magee.
