Several lawmakers are advocating to close the 'double-dipping' loophole in the state government's compensation system--

It's a provision allowing elected officials serving since 1995 and over the age of 65 eligible to collect funds from both the state pension system in addition to their regular salary.

Citing a need to restore public trust in state government, Hudson Valley Assemblyman Kevin Byrne penned a letter--along with his colleague Assemblyman James Skoufis--to the New York State Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation calling for the closure of this loophole.
