SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: Lawmakers from across the state are pushing the governor to use renewable energy to power Empire State Plaza, the state government complex next to the Capitol building. The state is planning to build a new power plant for the Plaza in a nearby neighborhood that is mostly a home to low-income families. The Sheridan Hollow Alliance for Renewable Energy formed to oppose the use of fossil fuels at the plant because of the possibility of air pollution, and after pressure, the state authority in charge of the project has agreed to consider renewable options. But now, SHARE and its supporters in the legislature want a stronger commitment. Albany County Legislator Merton Simpson discusses the latest.
