Members of the state Assembly heard testimony from the executives of CVS and Aetna. The pharmacy chain and health insurance company want to merge, claiming it would lead to lower costs and be more accessible for customers. And while the Department of Justice is currently reviewing the details of the potential merger, it will ultimately be up to state regulators. But officials from the state Department of Health and Department of Financial Services didn't show up to the hearing. We talked to Assemblyman Kevin Cahill last year when the proposal was first made, and he joins us again to update us following the hearing.
