The second-largest state workers union is preparing for an election of its own.

Executive positions at the Public Employees Federation are voted on every three years.

Current PEF president Wayne Spence is running again- but he's being challenged by Maureen Kellman, who is currently a statewide trustee.

The results of this election will impact the state work force- and potentially also the race for governor or other statewide offices.

Four years ago, PEF was one of the only unions to endorse Governor Cuomo's challenger, Zephyr Teachout, who is now one of three Democrats running for attorney general.
