June is Alzheimer's and Brain awareness month. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and that number is expected to triple by the year 2020. The disease impacts not only patients, but also their loved ones, as there are millions of people serving as caregivers. It is also the costliest disease, costing Americans an estimated $259 billion in 2017 alone. Elizabeth Smith-Boivin is the Executive Director and CEO for the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, and Jane Ginsburg is the Executive Director for the Alzheimer's Association New York State Coalition.
