Over the last 48 hours, 15 Buffalo firefighters have been hurt.

Fire Commissioner William Renaldo says they've been busy, responding to three, two-alarm fires in the last couple days, including one on Johnson and another on Beard Avenue, in addition to Frankfort.

Most of the firefighters who were hurt suffered from heat exhaustion. Some had minor burns, and one other had an eye injury.

Most were treated and released. A few were still under observation.

"The last couple days have been really hot and humid. Our firefighters carry around 75-85 pounds of gear. So with the heat and humidity take a toll. Two of those fires were attic fires, so you know how hot those can be, so they took a toll," said Renaldo.

He says they do a close analysis of every fire to see what contributed to any issues, including injuries.
