Dawson Knox has privately dealt with the sudden death of his younger brother Luke over the past two weeks.

After a recent social media post thanked many for their response to the tragedy, the Bills’ tight end addressed it for the first time with the media following Monday's practice.

"I've really felt a lot of love and support over the last few weeks with my brother," Knox said. "My family's been very thankful. Just everyone in Buffalo has been incredible. The amount of texts I've gotten. The messages. The posts. The moment of silence for the preseason game. It's just been everything I expected out of Buffalo and more because this city is incredible. It's meant the world to me."

Part of that outpouring of support came in the form of donations to the P.U.N.T. Foundation is Luke's name, an organization which Dawson works closely with in the Buffalo area. Knox believes about $200,000 was ultimately raised in honor of his brother.

"It's really mind-blowing just the size, the amount of support that I've had," Knox said. "It's more than I could have ever expected, but weirdly it's not surprising just because this is such an incredible city with such an incredible fan base and people. It really truly feels like home. I know I've said that before, but I kind of realized that for the first time when I came back up here after everything. It really does feel like a second home to me."

Knox was away from the team for about a week before returning to practice in Orchard Park.

While Dawson still has a heavy heart thinking about Luke, being back with the Bills has helped navigate the challenging time.

"Just getting back up here, getting back into a routine," Knox said. "Seeing all my teammates. Seeing all my coaches. Definitely from a distraction standpoint it's great too. But it's also just therapeutic doing what I love with the guys I love. I know that my brother would want it that way too. He wants me to give everything I got. I know he's going to be watching somehow, someway. So yeah, it's definitely been great being back up here getting back with all the guys."

Knox will play in a game for the first time since his brother's passing this Thursday night, certainly with Luke firmly on his heart and mind.
