Day 3 of Bills training camp lacked the big, flashy plays we saw the day before, but still provided more info regarding a couple positions of interest.

Let's dive right in!

The Best Still to Come From Ford

Cody Ford was more open and honest than I think he ever has been since being drafted by the Bills in 2019.

The former 2nd round pick has dealt with injuries each of his first two seasons, the latest a knee injury that cost him the back end of last year and needed multiple surgeries.

General Manager Brandon Beane has said he still believes in Ford, noting he really hasn't been healthy.

So with that in mind, I asked Ford after practice if we have yet to see the best he has to offer?

"Definitely have not seen it."

From there Ford explained his new mentality, one that's been aided by talking with a mental health coach, who has helped Ford navigate trying times.

As for on the field, Ford says he still can play where ever the Bills want, noting that because he's played on both sides of the line, there are no challenges anymore in doing that because of his experience.

Wallace Ready to Compete, Again

For the 3rd straight training camp, Levi Wallace is fighting to keep his starting job.

The latest challenger is Dane Jackson, last year's 7th round pick.

In what may come as a surprise to some, Wallace and Jackson worked out together in Buffalo during the break between minicamp and training camp.

But Wallace himself feels it shouldn't surprise anyone at all.

From what I've seen of Wallace through three days of camp, he has been his usual steady self on the field. There have been some plays where he has flashed, but overall just consistency.

Jackson has had moments on both sides of the coin, making plays while giving up others.

There is a long way to go before a decision is made, but I maintain that Jackson will have to really standout over this next month in order to supplant Wallace.

In the Trenches

The pads are not on yet, but I still chose to focus on some OL vs. DL action today.

The one moment that stood out was when 1st round pick Greg Rousseau went up against Daryl Williams. Rousseau came out of his stance quick and with a swim move, one that blew past Williams and leaving the right tackle on the ground. After some words with offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, Williams locked in much better with Rousseau the next time. Still, the rookie has made plays in just a few days.

Frazier acknowledged the depth that he has to play with on the DL, calling it a "good problem" to have that he is going to have to juggle developing chemistry with utilizing the versatility amongst the group.

Videos of the Day!

Isaiah McKenzie is another guy who has had a noteworthy start to camp.

He may showcase more than anyone the depth the Bills also have at WR.

Friday, McKenzie needing just one hand to reel in a catch during positional drill work.

Of course we can't really go a day without any mention of Josh Allen.

He continues to make impressive throws, but it's his handshake game that stood out most.
