Everyone in the Bills quarterback room has their role.

Josh Allen is the starter. Matt Barkley is the back-up. Jake Fromm is the emergency COVID QB.

But Davis Webb's is a bit more complicated.

While his job title is practice squad QB, Webb is actually seen all over the field. Throughout practices this entire season, Webb has played running back and wide receiver, mostly against air. On defense, though, things are full speed when Webb is a fixture at post safety, as well as seeing time at cornerback. Then he does it all on special teams, working as a kick and punt returner as well as both coverage teams and even the punt rush group.

"Sometimes it's hard for guys to have a straight face," Webb said. "Gabe Davis today was laughing. He was trying to block me. It's always a good time to see teammates reacting to you going full speed and trying to give them the best look possible. That's my number one goal, is to help these guys get the best look they can on Sunday so they can succeed, have fun, and enjoy a victory Monday."

Of course only those at practice see what Webb brings to the Bills, but those that do give him the highest of praise.

"He's a very important part of our football team," offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said. "He's a very, very important part of our football team. Those guys that are out there playing and getting all the stats and doing all those things, obviously we're happy they're on our team because they're providing what we need them to provide game day. But he does so many things behind the scenes that, and you can ask any one of his teammates, he's an awesome guy."

"I don't think I've been around a guy that's added value in so many ways to a team in a role that he has on the field in terms of not being a starter, with all due respect to Davis," head coach Sean McDermott said last week. "He's got tremendous set of intangibles. He's well liked in the locker room. He can play the position. Very happy to have Davis with us."

"He's one of the best teammates I've ever seen," Daboll added. "He works on special teams if he needs to work on special teams. He'll work on defense or show team. He does an unbelievable job with Josh preparing for games. Spends a lot of time with Shea [Tierney] going through the team we're about to play. He just has his hands in so many different things for us. He's such a valuable part to our team. Albeit, he's no playing, obviously, but the things he does behind the scenes, the way he interacts with the different position groups, he's fantastic."

Webb says he does get some time at practice towards the end of the week at QB. Still, his current role with the Bills does not have him on track to see the field anytime soon, something that Webb has yet to do in an NFL game since being drafted in the 3rd round in 2017.

"That's the kicker," Webb said. "There's some days I think Shea will come up to me and be like, alright, you can have about five minutes and then we need you back to your normal self. That only happens probably once a month, when it gets, I wouldn't say annoying or anything like that because I'm trying to help the guys the best I can, but when you're playing post safety and running a lot of yards, sometimes you're like I don't know if my body can withstand this for another six weeks. But that only happens probably once a month. The rest of the time it's fun."

Webb hopes that a more normal NFL year in 2021 will allow him a better chance in the offseason and preseason to see the field at QB.

Further down the line, he has his eyes set on coaching at the college or pro level and sees his current role with the Bills as a solid base for that phase of his football career.

"When I'm coaching down the road that's invaluable experience that I can say I did these six different positions throughout the course of an entire season," Webb said. "Looking at it through their lens and understand guys have different job responsibilities, etc. That's going to payoff big time down the road. So every time I get down on myself, I think hey, 20 years from now you're going to really like this."

But what position will he be coaching?
