This time a year ago, Josh Allen was third on the Bills’ depth chart and learning on the fly.

Now he's settling in as the undisputed man under center.

"Being in the same system for a year, having the verbiage down. Having the same terminology. Having the rapport I have with Coach (Brian) Daboll. I think it's been a huge help,” Allen said Tuesday, the first day of organized team activities for the season. “Just going in and knowing what type of plays and concepts I like. Dab's knows those. Then we kind of have a feeling for what our receivers can and can't run. Not saying they can't run any routes, but what they're really good at. So going out there and finding out what the new guys can do and see what some of the younger tight ends can do. It's a complete 180 feeling from last year to this year."

The weapons around Allen seemingly have flipped around just as much, although the likes of Cole Beasley and Tyler Kroft are currently grounded with injuries.

"They've played football before. I've seen plenty of tape on them. It's different than in-game reps or in-practice reps, but just talking to them, understanding what they are thinking,” Allen said. “Cole's very communicative. That's kind of the first thing he said to me when we talked was 'I'm going to let you know what I see and I expect you to do the same'. That's the type of level the relationship needs to be on. So I think we've got a really good start even though he's not on the field."

Allen can focus on what he's doing on the field. We've heard about the accuracy issues since the day he was drafted. It's an area Allen's 52.-8 completion percentage as a rookie showed needed improvement, which is exactly the plan during OTAs and beyond.

"Consistently delivering the ball where it needs to be. Ball placement is huge, especially in this league,” Allen said. “The type of concepts that we have, trying to get the ball to our playmakers where they can make some plays. That was a huge emphasis. We're still working on it and that's something that'll never change."

With improvement there, Allen's game will really change upward.
