A native Buffalonian, I'Jaz Ja'ciel contributes to the ever-evolving narrative of the city as a multimedia journalist with Spectrum News 1.

When she was a student journalist for Buffalo State's student publication, The Record, she wrote the first story about their student NAACP chapter's accusations of discrimination against some of the staff and students on campus, a story that was picked up by many notable local news outlets.

When not weaving the fabric of this city, there’s a good chance you can find I'Jaz spending time with her cat, who she says is more of a baby than a pet, or taking in the many sights and sounds of Buffalo. A self-described tree-hugging, nature lover with “way too many houseplants and an impressive collection of crystals,” she loves to write, mainly poetry and short stories, as well as collecting vinyl records.
