Report for America journalist Camalot Todd has been with the Spectrum News 1 Buffalo team since June 2019, proudly reporting to the communities across the Western New York region.
Todd joined the team through the Report for America service program, a non-profit organization whose goal is to strengthen local communities and democracy through local journalism that is truthful, fearless, fair and smart. A passionate journalist, Todd is inspired by the trust people place in her to share their stories, and then being able to witness first hand the action or conversations that are sparked as a result.
Throughout Camalot’s career, she’s covered countless stories and earned several awards, she's a recipient of the 2020 Advocacy Award by the Mental Health Advocates of WNY for her #IAm1in5 series highlighting mental health stigma in the WNY community. She's also been award the 2017 Best Investigative Journalist and Best Community Reporter by the Nevada Press Association.
With each story as meaningful as the next, one that will always remain with her are the stories of everyday New Yorkers who struggle with mental health and overcame those challenges, the people who are still living with those challenges and those who have lost that battle.
A Colorado and Nevada native, Camalot is still exploring all that Buffalo has to offer. However, one thing she has learned since moving east is that Buffalo truly lives up to its City of Good Neighbors title. When Camalot isn’t in the newsroom, you can usually find her one of two places -in the gym, or in the kitchen, preparing a multiple course meal for her friends and family. As active as they come, Camalot enjoys frequenting hikes, yoga, boxing and biking to name a few.
