The Erie County Water Authority is advising residents impacted by a water main break in Hamburg to continue boiling tap water until 4 p.m. on Monday.

The ECWA says around 4 p.m. Saturday the system lost pressure because of a water main break in the area.

Due to the loss of pressure, untreated water containing microbes can enter the system.

The notice applies to areas in the town of Hamburg and Orchard Park bounded by:

  • To the north by Armor Road
  • To the south by Shamrock Court/South Abbott Road
  • To the west by Oakridge Drive
  • To the east by the intersection of Armor Road and Powers Road

Officials say if you are in the affected area you should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute then let it cool before drinking, brushing your teeth, or washing dishes.

The water authority says the water main has been repaired; however it could take at least 24-hours for the system to return to normal.
