NFTA Transit Police have identified the man who died in an accident involving a Metro Rail train.

It happened at Fountain Plaza Station near Main Street around 8:30 Thursday night.

Detectives who spoke to a witness and reviewed surveillance video say Mark Coleman, 53, appeared to jump onto the coupler of the train at Fountain Plaza Station. Coleman then fell as the train pulled away from the station. An inbound train operator notified police of the incident.

The rail system was shut down for the rest of the evening and began running again Friday morning.

The incident is still under investigation.
