People in Lockport are remembering a man who died in police custody one year ago.

More than 100 people gathered at a vigil Wednesday night for Troy Hodge. He died during a confrontation with police in his Park Avenue Driveway.

Officers say they were responding to a mental health call and Hodge, 39, had a medical issue during an altercation with police.

Wednesday night the community gathered to remember Hodge outside his home before marching to city hall.

"We are still waiting for results, it's been exactly one year since he died right in this driveway — since he was murdered in this driveway. So we would really like to see justice be served. Police reform. Just change in general," said Desiree Crenshaw, Hodge's step-daughter.

Crenshaw says the family ultimately hopes the officers who were involved will be fired and face criminal charges.
