After years of major flooding for those living along Lake Ontario, relief is on the way.
While the state says dredging has begun in other regions, new project sites include Olcott Harbor at Golden Hill State Park and Oak Orchard Harbor in Orleans County.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says these dredging projects are essential to protecting those who live and work along the shorelines, as well as boosting tourism and ensuring safe recreational access for boaters.
The REDI Commission set aside $20 million for homeowner assistance, $30 million to improve the resiliency of businesses, and $15 million for a regional dredging effort.
