The City of Buffalo has forced Del Denby Tavern to cease all operations immediately after a deadly shooting on the front patio early Tuesday morning.

Buffalo Police say a 46-year-old man was shot outside the popular North Buffalo establishment on Hertel Ave. near Parkside Ave. He was rushed to ECMC, where he later died.

Police say the shooting stemmed from a fight between two people that started inside the bar, and that the victim and the alleged shooter knew each other.

This is not the first shooting to break out after some sort of altercation at Del Denby Tavern. There was one in June 2021 that left one person injured after a large fight spilled out into Hertel Ave. right in front of the bar.

The owner of Del Denby Tavern, John Daly, tells Spectrum News 1 he was worried about how this incident could impact his business and called the shooting “senseless.”

Buffalo Police are asking anyone information that could help lead to an arrest call their confidential tipline at 716-847-2255.
