The Erie County sheriff says a 13-year-old girl from Grand Island who went missing this week has been found safe.

According to Sheriff John C. Garcia, the girl was located in York County, Pennsylvania, around 4:30 a.m. on Friday. She has since been reunited with her family.

Sheriff Garcia says an individual has also been taken into custody in connection with the girl's disappearance; however, their identity has not yet been released.

Investigators believe the girl was lured away in the overnight hours between Wednesday and Thursday following an online chat.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office is acknowledging the support it received in the search from the FBI, New York State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Grand Island Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol and several other law enforcement and state agencies.

The sheriff's office says the investigation is continuing.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
