The Buffalo Sabres announced Wednesday they have re-signed captain Kyle Okposo to a one-year, $2.5 million deal.

Okposo would also get a $500K bonus for winning the Stanley Cup, according to CapFriendly.

The forward will be going into his eighth season with the Sabres. He has notched 223 points in 455 games with Buffalo since signing a seven-year contract in 2016.

The 35-year-old was named captain of the Sabres before last season, with the veteran becoming a leading voice in the locker room and presence in the community over the years.

He was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
