The redevelopment of Canalside in Downtown Buffalo continues.
Gov. Kathy Hochul in conjunction with the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation announced that plans are moving forward to transform the North Aud Block, the old site of the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium.
The site has sat vacant since the 'Aud' was demolished in 2009.
On Monday, the design and renderings of the Canalside Gateway Building were approved and Hochul awarded the construction project to Manning Squires Hennig Company.
The Canalside Gateway Building will house mixed-use commercial, retail and residential spaces.
The more than $14 million project is expected to break ground this spring.
It is slated to be complete by February 2025.
