CELORON, N.Y. — On a foggy early morning in the Chautauqua County village of Celoron, Monica Buck of Falconer brings both her 2-year-old golden doodles, Foxy and Milo, to Bruno and Dino's House, an 11,000 square foot safe indoor dog park and day care, before she heads off to work.

Bruno is a German Shepard and Dino is an English cream golden retriever, both are almost 2. Right out of the gate, the two are immediately excited to hang out with their friends.

"Just the constant interaction with people and other dogs is really good for them,” Buck said. “So they get some energy out throughout the day instead of just being in the house all day in their crate."

Monica was working from home for a few months last year due to the pandemic, so Foxy and Milo got used to her being home all day, every day, even if she was not always able to play with them.

"I would take them to the outdoor dog park after work just to get some energy out,” Buck added. “And they just fell so in love with that, that I was like well, if there's a way I can continue doing that while I'm at work, that'd be awesome."

Dogs can go to the day care for a full or half day, and are constantly on the run, with a few water breaks in between. Other activities include a full obstacle course, a maze, a jump swing and a number of toys for a spirited game of tug of war.

"Coming here, they're never alone,” Brooke DeCola, Bruno and Dino's House general manager, said. “They're always with humans. At least two and at least three other dogs throughout the entire day. There's also other people coming in with their dogs."

Dogs there for day care are also fed and walked. Then, it's playtime again, before getting ready to go home.

"They can come here, run around and play,” DeCola said. “So then after you have a long day at work, you can actually go home and relax because your dog has burned all their energy while they were here."

And shortly after Monica's work day ends, she picks up the dogs, and stays for a bit to play with them.

"The more you can do that and expose your dogs to other dogs and other people, the better they're going to be for you," Buck said.

The dogs aren't the only ones at play, as there are games for the whole family, and enclosed seating areas as well.

But when playtime is over, Monica gets her dogs ready to go, heads to the car and takes them home.

"It's nice to refresh from the day, from a long day of work and see them and their happy faces and know that they had a good day running around too, so that when we go home, they'll be tired out for the rest of the day," Buck said.

Bruno and Dino's House is open seven days a week, and offers birthday and rescue day parties for dogs as well.

Pet experts say signs that your dog could be anxious from now being home alone, and could benefit from doggie day care, include refusing treats, pacing, and panting when not hot.
