BUFFALO, N.Y. — Time to hit the runway for a fashion show set for Friday evening thanks to the Fantastic Friends of Western New York, a non-profit volunteer social organization for individuals of all ages with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

This is the third annual fashion show, and with last year's canceled because of the pandemic, this one is bound to have extra special meaning.

There are 15 special needs models taking part in the show.

Organizers say the event is one of their largest fundraisers, as it also includes an auction.

Fantastic Friends of WNY was founded in 2016 and serves those with Down syndrome, Autism and others across the region.

Leaders with the group say the event is unique for all involved, but especially for the models.

“It’s a great confidence booster for them, they’re special inside they bring out the best in you and they’ve done probably more for us that work here in the volunteers than we could ever do for them," said Fantastic Friends Founder Debbie Cordone.

Each special needs model will have a buddy escorting them across the stage.

Fantastic Friends Rock The Runway takes place Friday night at 6 p.m. at Forbes Theater at 500 Pearl.
