BUFFALO, N.Y. — Raising awareness of homelessness in Buffalo while raining money to provide warm meals, clothing and medical care. The non-profit Friends of the Night People held its "Pop By For The People" event at Flying Bison Brewery on Thursday.

The group served more than 180,000 meals for people in need last year.

With the holiday season ahead, and the cold weather not far away, the group is ready for an even higher number as the impact of people struggling through poverty becomes more dangerous.

“Friends of Night People is a great organization that’s been there to help so many people, whether they’re homeless, they’re experiencing poverty, they have a mental health situation, or they have an addiction,” Joseph Hery from Friends of Night People said. “Many people know someone who has experiencing with that or has been there themselves. And we’re there for everybody.”

Friends of Night People is open every day of the year at its location on Hudson Street downtown. It also partners with other groups across WNY to reach more members of the community.
