OLEAN, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills and Sabres' requirement to have attendees be vaccinated against COVID-19 follows President Biden's announcement last week that millions of others will be required to be vaccinated.
That includes all health care workers at facilities that accept Medicare and Medicaid.
Olean General Hospital is worried that mandate will push hospitals into a disaster status.
So far, 11 Olean General Hospital employees have resigned because of the requirement.
The Upper Allegheny Health System says it supports vaccinations for all employees.
However, if employees continue to leave because they don't want to get vaccinated, all while hospitals face a new wave of COVID-19, the hospital says it could face severe staff shortages.
Olean General Hospital says a majority of its 840 employees are vaccinated, but more than 250 people are not.
