BUFFALO, N.Y. — Broadway shows are again coming to the Queen City following a year-and-half pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney’s Frozen will open on September 10 with a timely message.

What You Need To Know

  • Frozen comes to Shea’s from September 10-24
  • It will showcase all the songs from the film and a dozen new ones
  • The production has more than 300 handmade costumes

“One of the most wonderful things about the human spirit is the fact that we require each other and we require a community through the darker times,” says Caroline Innerbichler, Anna in Frozen. “That’s exactly the story we’re telling through Frozen.”

The spectacular elements of the stage will be the same as always at Shea’s Performing Arts Center, but there will be some changes to keep everyone safe. All patrons, volunteers and staff must wear masks, regardless of their state of vaccination. There will be hand sanitizer available throughout the lobby. And concessions stands and bars will be closed. But the show will go on.

“I think it’s going to be very powerful,” said Caroline Bowman, Elsa in Frozen.” I’m honored to be this audience’s first show back.”

Frozen will showcase all the songs from the film and a dozen new ones. And the production has more than 300 handmade costumes.

“Every single character on stage has different detail in their costume,” said Bowman. “My costumes are so full of beads. They’re so heavy and so sparkly.”

The stars say this show has extra special meaning.

“We’ve all been stuck in our homes and stuck watching things on a tiny little screen,” said Mason Reeves, Kristoff in Frozen. “Being in this massive theatre with all of these beautiful adornments. You see all these people singing their hearts out. It’s overwhelming.”

Frozen will run through September 24.
