ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The CDS Wolf Foundation 34th Annual Salute to Veterans Golf Tournament is underway at Oak Hill Country Club.

Golfers have staggered tee times throughout the day on Monday and 200 people are expected to attend.

Proceeds from the event benefit the foundation's veterans services.

"We help out with education, with classes, with jobs and employment, said Tom DeRoller, the foundation's executive director. "It's just a phenomenal service that we provide for our returning veterans, who we refer to as our returning heroes."

Top golfers will be rewarded with plaques at the end of the event.

Army veteran and father of two veterans, Robert Mixon, says these services are invaluable.

"The importance of this support, it's hard to state in words," Mixon said. "We really need to provide community outreach to the men and women who have done so much. It's not like you turn an on and off switch when you go into a dangerous environment and you come back into ours. You can't just turn it on or off. You need some help."

Mixon says the foundation also helps with veterans who may fall back when dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and need support again too.
