If you were hoping to continue getting alcohol with your takeout food, we have some bad news.

The state legislature did not pass the Alcohol-To-Go legislation before the end of session.

During the pandemic, Gov. Cuomo signed an executive order allowing businesses to sell alcohol with takeout food.

The goal was to help restaurants that lost a lot of business over the last 15 months.

"Thousands of restaurants aren't even gonna open up,” Daniel Garvey, Roycroft Inn manager, said. “And the ones that have are struggling to survive. They've been devastated. And this was just one way of proving the state cared about us and wanted us to continue our businesses and try and hire people and try to get going again. It was a very advantageous thing for us to have, and it's something we're going to try to fight and keep."

Lawmakers could still return for a special session to address failed bills this summer.

In the meantime, the New York State Restaurant Association is calling on Gov. Cuomo to extend his executive order allowing the takeout beverages.
