  • Officials warn of potential scams surrounding ticket purchases

Clifford Tremblay, who lives in Tonawanda, said, "I couldn't be more thrilled, man, I'm ecstatic by it all."

Tremblay is one of the lucky few who's been able to snag a ticket. The season ticket holder tweeted Thursday saying he had tears of joy down his face after he purchased his tickets.

"I was bouncing off the walls, I was really excited but I wasn't sure if my seniority would give me an opportunity to get the tickets, it turned out being a club seat holder was the benefit that allowed me to get the tickets, on top of my seniority," he said.

If you've been on the front lines of the pandemic, you could be joining Cliff in Orchard Park for the big game. Batavia Downs is asking the community to nominate front line health care workers and first responders to receive tickets as a way to thank them for their sacrifices throughout the pandemic.

Henry Wojtaszek, the president and CEO of Batavia Downs Gaming, said, "We thank all of you that have been at the forefront of this pandemic and those that have kept us safe during these very, very troubling times."

To nominate a frontline health care worker or first responder, email a one paragraph synopsis on why that person should be considered for a ticket. The email subject line should read:  Ticket Nominee. The email must also include: the nominee’s name, job title, place of employment and the nominee’s phone number and email address. Nominations can be sent to rhasenauer@westernotb.com and will only be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2021.  Nominations will be reviewed and a limited number of nominees will be contacted on Saturday or Sunday if chosen.

The Better Business Bureau is warning fans to be on the lookout for ticket scams.

Tickets went on sale Thursday and are non-transferrable.

All fans will have to prove they have a negative COVID-19 test, along with a ticket, to get into Bills Stadium.

The BBB says because of this you will not be able to buy tickets on the secondary market. If you see tickets on reseller sites, the BBB says the tickets are not valid or could be counterfeit.

"There’s a lot of ID, applications, things like that, so they know exactly who’s in the stadium, because of COVID-19, because of the testing, because of the pandemic, where everybody is and who they are. So you can’t just buy a ticket off the street and take it up there," BBB of Upstate NY Communications Director Melanie McGovern said.

Fans should only buy tickets for the game from the team. You can report scams to the BBB scam tracker.

In a year filled with darkness, the Bills have proved to be a gleaming light and many now hope this is the year they take it all the way.

"My dad talking all those years about just one before I die, just one before I die, I want it so bad. I want it for me but man I want it because I want to go to Forest Lawn and celebrate with my dad," Tremblay said.
