In honor of the Buffalo Bills winning the AFC East Division, Colin Dee, a native of Webster, New York, ran a marathon around Gillette stadium Monday night to celebrate.

"It started we were just going to run a 5K and then there was a half marathon and kind of turned into you know what we're going to run a full marathon, I'm just going to go ahead and do it, and I'm going to do it in laps consecutive laps around the stadium," said Colin Dee of Westwood, Massachusetts.

What You Need To Know

  • Webster native Colin Dee is running to celebrate the Bills first AFC East Division Title in 25 years

  • His goal was to raise $1,000 for Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo

  • He ran a marathon around the home of the New England Patriots, Gillette Stadium, during the Bills-Pats game Monday Night

Not only did the miles for this celebration evolve to a marathon, but also the entire mission.

Dee said, "A couple of my friends are like, 'you know, if you're doing this you might as well try to start like a GoFundMe and raise some money and do some good out of this,' it's a great idea, why not. So I set a $1,000 goal on a GoFundMe account, linked it right to Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo."

Dee tells Spectrum News he has a lot of love for the city of Buffalo and the work Oishei Children's Hospital is doing.

Just before the start of the game Monday night, Dee had raised close to $3,000 for the children’s hospital.

"I'll be excited, the first couple laps it’ll be a novelty to it. Then I'll start hurting, you know, then we'll start dealing with it, and I'll think about you know the reason why I'm doing it. You know that other people are going through harder times and what I'm doing right now and think about all the people are supported and donated already so that'll keep me motivated and keep me going," said Dee.

Dee is hopeful a marathon for the Bills and the children’s hospital will pay off, and that the Bills finish the season strong.

"All those times of suffering are now kind of paying themselves off. So knock on wood, there’s no more suffering this year we just take it all the way," said Dee.
