MAYVILLE, N.Y. — A water advisory is still in place in Mayville.
If you live there, you should not drink the water, use it for cooking, or brushing your teeth.
But the Chautauqua County Health Department says it's making progress. Crews are working to flush out the water system and replace it with new water.
Once it's complete, residents will be asked to flush their household plumbing.
Until then, you may notice discolored or cloudy water.
This comes after health officials found a potentially harmful chemical in the water.
Residents can pick up free water bottles at the Town of Chautauqua Highway Building until Saturday, or the Tops parking lot on Friday and Sunday.
