A database to know how qualified and safe your pilot is next time you fly is one step closer to implementation.

Congressman Brian Higgins announced the final rule for the pilot records database has moved to the Office of Management and Budget for review.

This is the final step toward making it a reality.

This is a key piece of legislation the Flight 3407 families fought to achieve.

The National Transportation Safety Board ruled a primary cause of that crash in Clarence Center in 2009 was pilot error.

With this database, commercial airlines will be able to see information regarding a pilot's employment history, training, certifications, and status of National Driver Registry records.

It is the final outstanding piece of the families' many efforts to make flying safer for everyone.
