BUFFALO, N.Y. — Last February, all ears and eyes were on "Singing Cops," officers Moe Badger and Michael Norwood.

An appearance on the Ellen Show, a recording contract, and several other projects later has brought the officers to the national stage yet again. The Singing Cops will be acknowledged at the 2020 People’s Choice Awards for their work mentoring Buffalo's youth.

“The last seven to eight months has really been rough throughout the entire United States," said officer Michael Norwood. "We are happy that we are able to be able to shine a positive and bright light on our city across the world."

Norwood and Badger have not taken their platform lightly. Proceeds from appearances have gone into the community and their youth program called C.O.P.S.S., or Children Overcoming Police Stereotypes Through Sports. It was founded in 2016 with the help of Lieutenant Todd McAlister.

"Sometimes you can have greatness in you, but it takes great people to bring it out of you," said Alan Hall, who was awarded the first ever C.O.P.S.S. scholarship.

"We plan to give this award every year to at risk youth in our community," said Moe Badger. "This is what it's all about. It's really about impacting lives"

This holiday season C.O.P.S.S. will be donating Thanksgiving dinners to 20 families and host a coat giveaway.

The Singing Cops are set to appear Sunday on the People’s Choice Awards.
