Here in New York State, you can't gather with more than 50 people because of coronavirus. But two newly married couples were recently able to break that rule.

Now, Erie County is explaining why and how that was able to happen.

A federal court ruling allowed the two wedding receptions, both of which took place at Arrowhead Golf Club in the Village of Akron, to proceed with more than 50 guests.

The two couples and a minister sued New York State and Erie County in federal court and got an injunction.

The Erie County Health Department says the events had to follow the state's Phase 4 guidelines.

That included people sitting at tables with 10 seats or less, remaining seated at tables throughout the event, and wearing masks when walking to an exit or a bathroom. Dancing, standing, and mingling were also not allowed.
