You’ve heard of using sage to get rid of negativity, but what about doing that on a much larger scale, like on an entire city?

Western New Yorkers took to Niagara Square to sage the entire community Sunday. Participants first used Palo Santo to cleanse the area and then incense to bring positive energy.

Organizers say that this event comes at a time when there is so much hostility and healing is more necessary than ever.

"With the recent transgressions of the world, I just felt that it was cool to go ahead and bring unity without necessarily having a protest, but more so a gathering of positive vibes," said Sage Our City host Ross Weaver.

Participants planned to walk to Lasalle Park with the herb, but got caught in thunderstorms.
